How do you start a coaching conversation with a member of your team? Most people would tell you that you need to tell them what they're doing wrong. In this episode of Talent Talks, I'm going to explain why this prescriptive approach often doesn't get you the results you're looking for. Instead of telling them what you want them to do, I believe you have to be more patient and actually have a conversation with them. Conversations are two-way streets - so managers must let the employee talk. The more the employee talks, the better chance you have to get the performance change you're seeking. Take a look at this episode of Talent Talks and I'll walk you through his approach for a coaching conversation that gets results.
